The Excellence Framework Europe is characterized by its model openness – a central element of the award procedures. The focus is not on the management model used, but on the assessment of the degree of maturity within a clearly defined framework.
Organizations that have already gained experience with models such as EFQM can continue to use them. At the same time, users of other models – such as Baldrige, Deming, St. Gallen Management Model, Economy for the Common Good, or CAF – are invited to evaluate their organizational excellence on the basis of EFE.

The model openness is made possible by the common DNA of many management approaches. On closer inspection, these approaches show numerous fundamental similarities, which are brought together in the EFE.
